Reimagining the conditions in which human life unfolds
Human life is shaped not only by individual capacity or organizational design, but by the larger systems, relationships, rituals, and assumptions we live inside.
ELEVI’S cultural work begins with one question:
What becomes possible when we reconsider the systems we live inside?
Culture is carried through the systems of everyday life
More than the stories a society tells about itself, culture is also what everyday structures encourage, constrain, and reward.
The way we gather shapes relationships. The way we organize work shapes attention and time. The way food is grown, prepared, and shared shapes our health and our relationship to place.
Over time, these systems teach us what to notice, what to prioritize, and what to treat as normal.
“We live in a narrative culture.
It's through stories that we shape meaning. The most powerful story wins.”
-Maureen Freely
ELEVI’S Three Questions
What kinds of relationships and ways of gathering make room for difference, candor, care, and participation?
When does belonging in a system ask people to give up their values and judgment?
What changes when the places we build treat human life as part of the living world?
ELEVI does not claim to have resolved these questions, but we believe they are worth taking seriously.
Culture is also made in small rooms
Large systems matter. So do the conditions created between a handful of people around a table.
Culture is continually formed through ordinary acts of gathering: who is invited, how attention is held, what can be said, what is shared, and what becomes possible in the presence of others.
Some of ELEVI’s earliest cultural work begins there.
ELEVI x First Circle™
First Circle is a deliberately composed gathering of six women around a shared table.
Across three dinners, the work unfolds through conversation, food, attention, and what becomes possible as the women come to know one another. Questions of authority, truth, difference, and belonging emerge through the relationships at the table.
The conditions in which we gather shape what becomes possible between us.
The ELEVI Exploration
Cultural work may take the form of intimate gatherings, new ways of participating, collaborations across disciplines, or experiments in how communities organize around food, health, place, connection, and work.
The expressions will change. The inquiry is larger than any one of them:
